As a new teacher, I find that so often, I am just trying to get by. I have a few go-to activities for various desired outcomes, but other than that, I feel like I really need to build up my tool belt so I can have more headspace to consider how to better accommodate the needs of my adult learners, whatever they may be. I find that right now, in the first few years of teaching, it feels heavy. I think I do it naturally to some extent, when it comes to social things, like sociolinguistics. I don’t think I do it as well when it comes to reading or the technical skills involved.

Recently, a student said he needed tech to be able to attend online classes. I sent 3-5 emails just to start the conversation, and it was honestly really difficult for our org to provide him with what he needed. We all went out of our way, including a volunteer who drove over 2 hours total to get the tech to the student in order to make it happen. What a doozie!
