In FY2020, the Transitions Academy will be revamped in order to meet Illinois’ goals in expanding high-quality Integrated Career & Academic Preparation System (ICAPS)/Integrated Education and Training (IET) programs across the state. In order to participate, colleges and service providers must complete the Transitions Academy Registration. Each college or service provider are required to bring a team inclusive of Adult Education administrators, Career and Technical Education Administrators, and/or training providers. Others may include those with programmatic decision-making responsibilities or those who will work closely with ICAPS programming (i.e. Academic Deans, Faculty, Instructors, Advisors, Local Workforce Board staff, Support Service staff, Financial Aid Administrators, Transition Specialist, etc.). Additionally, a self-assessment will be shared at a later date to be completed to inform the Academy agenda. The Transitions Academy will be divided into three tracks: 1. Develop While Illinois has been a leader in the implementation of bridge and IET programming, the budget impasse of 2015-2017 has stalled our progress. The Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) is dedicated to the development of new ICAPS programs and scaling quality across existing ICAPS programs. To support these goals, the ICCB will be releasing a competitive grant in order to develop and/or scale ICAPS programming. This grant opportunity is a joint effort between Career and Technical Education and Adult Education. The full notice of funding opportunity will be released in July with a grant period of October 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020 and a maximum award amount of $20,000 per institution. Both development and implementation/pilot will be expected as deliverables to be completed during the grant period. As a prerequisite for eligibility, applicants must send a team to participate at the Transitions Academy. Technical assistance on the grant opportunity will be provided at the Transitions Academy. Awardees will be notified in the fall. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER YOUR TEAM A block of rooms is available at three area hotels. The block closes July 23rd. 1.
